Maybe now they can let the Diablo 2 guys get back to work on the patch that matters?

Odd, I mean that nice and all but like you said that is more important for sure.

... or maybe focus on Diablo 3....

They did ask what we wanted in the next Diablo 2 patch so his comment is just fine.

Do really think I think there is only one dev team working at Blizzard and they have focused all their efforts and resources on a Warcraft 3 patch? I bet you think I am gona post next that Diablo 3 got delayed because they where working on the Warcraft 3 patch..

The point is who cares about this patch its pointless, they can not even patch the game with native support for 1920x1080 you still have to hack the registry and make an entry for that to work talk about lazy.

How come there hasn't been a 3rd party modification of Diablo 2 for high res graphics? Like a high res pack or something? Or is there?

        There is http://www.moddb.com/games/diablo-2/downloads/d2multires-version-102

This let you play in wide screen rez's its really freeking nice you have to try it.

The joke of the matter is this is some dude made this NOT Blizzard they can not even mod there own source code? Yet they take plenty of opportunity to let the community and fans of Diablo know that Diablo 3 is not coming out till 2011 maybe. Funny how that works...

Just me, but it would be nice if they gave the fans something that is useful and not negative, but thats just me... seems like most gamers see good things from Blizzard and not the bad.

Yeah i kinda knew about this... but i guess i am looking for a texture pack that updates the graphics a bit. Higher resolution is nice though.

That would hot personally "a texture pack that updates the graphics a bit"

Why would Blizzard not release such a thing it been 8 years since D2 LOD (June 30, 2001)?

If Blizzard released a new high rez texture/sprite pack for D2, it would buy them allot of time and I am sure all the users would even pay $10 for it I know I would.

Personally this seems like a no brainier, if fans can do it for Fallout 3, Stalkers and other games why cann't the companies that have acces to all the games assests?

I am sure Blizzard could higher some graphic artists to re do the assets in D2 with the money they have stocked piled in half a year?

Anyone question this? Or is it simple they don't care?

Well it would be nice for blizzard to do that. But i was thinking with all the crazy diablo fans, i would of assumed someone would of developed some type of mod to make it better looking....

I think you underestimate how much effort would would be required to essentially remake every graphical element in the game plus engine updates to support it.

Maybe cus Diablo 2 is sprite-based and does NOT use textures at all?

^^^this. Contrary to 3D games like Fallout, updating Diablo II graphics would mean that all animations for all objects and characters would have to be redone = lots and lots and lots of work.

what he said. and for all that money spent it wouldnt really be worth it in the end. Im sure Blizzard is already going full-tilt in every department working on other projects, i doubt this would be at the top of their list.

Perhaps for a special occasion if enough people still play.

10 year anniversary maybe? (try back in 6 months)

                  diablo 3's release maybe?

same with Starcraft. There is a pretty decent mod for it that would let me play in 1600X1200 (any any other res) if I wanted, though it's a lot more useful for watching replays. Of course Blizzard can't or won't do that themselves, at least for replays or observer mode
