Batman: Arkham Asylum Launch Week Deals

Canadians won't be the only ones to get a good deal on Batman: Arkham Asylum this week, as retailer Toys R Us is offering to give up to half of the game's $60 price back, in gift card form, with purchase of the detective comic brawler.

To take full advantage of the deal, you'll have to act fast, as the "free $30 gift card when you buy Batman Arkham Asylum" offer is only good in-store from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday, August 25. You'll also need to be a member of the free "Rewards R Us" program.

But don't fret if you can't make it then, as a "free $20 gift card" will come with purchase of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title for the rest of the week--supplies permitting, that is.

If you're wondering what to do with that gift card, you may want to check out the "Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off" sale on "all DS & Wii Games" that's currently in effect, especially given that Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (DS), Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) and The Clique: Diss and Make Up (DS), among others, are due out this week.

For those of you without a nearby Toys R Us, there's always Best Buy, which is bundling Batman: Arkham Asylum with a DVD of two animated Batman features--Mask of Phantasm and Mr. Freeze--along with a $10 gift card. It may not be as enticing, but with Best Buy's sale running both online and in-store, at least it's a bit more convenient.

Also, Amazon is still offering $5 off the game with the "5OFFARKM" coupon code. Combined with the retailer's discounted pricing, that brings the Xbox 360 edition to $48, the PlayStation 3 version to $47, and the September-due PC release to $39.

Oh, and let's not forget that GameStop is offering an "exclusive in-game 'Dem Bones' Scarecrow Challenge Map" with purchase of a full-priced new copy. Such offerings are sometimes later released to the public as downloadable content, but you never know.

And speaking of exclusive DLC, the PlayStation 3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum is supposedly the only version that will let you play as The Joker in Challenge Mode.

Finally, to bring things full circle, ToysRUs.com is offering a free copy of LEGO Batman with an online pre-order of Batman: Arkham Asylum. It doesn't appear that this offer will be available in-store, and that amazing gift card promo isn't available online, so if you're trying to hunt down the best deal on Batman this week, you've got some choices to make.
