The Avatar trailer comes out, it's got very good CG, cool alien beasts, spaceships, mechs, and explosions. It's directed by James Cameron... and people are disappointed in the PLOT??? What in hell shack, this James Cameron. You know, that guy that does ACTION MOVIES. Since when did ANY of his movies have some great, award winning plot? It's going to be awesome, BECAUSE ALIENS AND SHIT BLOW UP IN 3D, not because it has the most amazing science fiction story in the world or something.

What system are you getting it for? I have a pre-order for the 360 version but I've heard the PS3 version has some extra features, so I'm going to switch to that one.

Because I haven't felt myself compelled to play a game like this in a long time. I think it's the way it teases you with all these hidden passages and that door you could get past that undoubtedly has something awesome behind it if only you had the next upgrade, so keep looking!
And it became even better when I discovered that foam + grenades = sticky grenades!
How badass is that?!

From what I gather, most people in sci-fi expect everything to have "plausible" and "rational" explanations. I put those in quotes because even then, you have to just take it on faith that some things are the way they are (like we'll eventually figure out how to travel faster than light, for instance). So there is an abhorrence to having religion in sci-fi, especially ones with a god or gods and angels controlling things. God did it, predeterminism, and all that jazz.
That's fine. Not arguing that.
So, my question is, has there been any sci-fi books, shows, movies, etc that you feel have successfully merged sci-fi with religion? And not just characters who are religious, or aliens who are all but gods (like Q), but where religion is an integral part of the plot. ie, there IS a god (or gods), and they have a hand in matters. That there is actual divinity incorporated into the universe. And oh yeah, we're flying around in spaceships.
I think Peter Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy may come close, but I'm not sure if there actually is a god in that universe, or there simply is multiple levels of afterlife sans god). And I do like BSG, and even its ending, for all its faults.

How would I go about setting up a distribution list for text messaging? Each carrier requires it's own special prefix - how would I take that into account?
The easy way to do this is to create a Mail Contact for each person's cell phone number. But AFAIK there's no way to link / associate a Mail Contact with a Mailbox, and I'd like to avoid duplicating objects, if possible.
The game tends to suck you in without you noticing how much time went by. you want to play a short amount of time and boom 5 hours went by without you noticing.
In a way its like a combination of the settlers and simcity with a small portion of capitalism plus thrown in.
the game has an aquarium effect on me. i tend to stare at the environment, look at all the nicely animated citizens and animals in the woods/sea. The pace of the game is also really relaxing.
Games like starcraft stress me the fuck out but this has a civilization like zen to it.
Wish I had gotten some more pictures I ended up deleting a TON of photos cause of blur/exposure issues. But had a decent set that turned out pretty good.

It was great. The Lowtax commercials were funny, the songs were fun, the new short was great and of course, the movie was hilarious-awesome.
Surprising amount of hot chicks there. Some even flying solo.
Hopefully this was a success I'd go to one of these once a month if they offered it.
