Doom 2 Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

18
An Xbox Live Arcade version of id software's 1994 shooter Doom II: Hell on Earth is being shown on the floor at QuakeCon, expected to be officially announced later today.

A whole new episode will be included, along with all of Doom 2's original content. Four-player split-screen multiplayer will be available in addition to online play.

Neither release date nor price are currently known for the port, which is being handled by Doom XBLA porter Nerve Software.

New episode indeed sounds strange and awesome.

I wonder what it is. Would be nice if it gets released for PC too. That way I could have it on XBLA and for use in Zdoom.

A new episode would be awesome on the PC. I want to play it in Skulltag, even though we already have 16 years of awesome 3rd party content on the PC.

Anyway, I love Doom and so I'll probably buy this even though I hate playing a fast game like Doom with a controller.

Yea. That's the biggest news there. I wonder who made the levels?

      Fuckin' a!

I saw the headline and thought "awesome!" Then I saw it included a new episode and I thought... "Awesome!"

Looking forward to more Doom on my plasma!

I was playing through this in co-op with one of the Id guys; pretty awesome level, then it said "entryway: completed". I said, "What!? That was Entryway!?"

If I remember correctly, didn't all custom maps use Doom 2's level names in chronological order? The first map in a set/TC was Entryway, the next was <whatever level 2's name was>, and so on.

Yes. The level names were .gifs that you could replace though, but the name displayed on the minimap required hacking the .exe to change.
