Gaijin Entertainment has detailed the multiplayer modes in its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 flight simulator IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, and released an overly-dramatic trailer.

Alongside customary deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture and hold offerings is Strike, where teams try to destroy the enemy's ground troops while defending their own.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey is slated for release on September 15, with DS and PSP versions arriving too. A two-mission campaign demo is currently available on Xbox Live.

Tried the demo on live, after playing IL2 from the first game and through all it's PC iterations I found the game only truly playable and enjoyable on the easiest arcade settings. The limited controls and simplified GUI simply made flying in cockpit or on any more challenging difficulties an impossibility. Maybe I'm just too new to the 360 controller, but I found that even the slightest tug on the left analogue stick would send the P51 featured in the demo into a spin/stall.

Either way, not impressed enough with the demo to buy it, but it has made me consider Blazing angels, at least it has co-op I could convince the fiancée to have a go at.

I got the Saitek Aviator flight stick and it makes a HUGE difference when playing IL-2 on consoles.
Now I don't have to fight the controls while I'm dogfighting the enemy. I'd suggest that anyone who plans on getting the final game should also pick up a flightstick.

I don't know why you would not be impressed with that demo. I have put hours and hours into that demo alone.
Yes it's hard as hell to fly right with the gamepad on the other difficulties, but shit that game looks pretty and is fun to play. I have the stick and regularly move between the harder difficulties with the stick and the easier ones with the controller.

There's nothing quite like flying such a good looking game on a 50 inch HDTV from your couch. When did gamers become such bitches and stop enjoying games. Why does everything have to be either or? I saw someone complaing about the 3rd person perspective featured as defaut on consoles as if because the game has it the terrorists win.

oohhh... poor snobby pc purist douche bags. Are you threatened by your beloved optiondis you think are exclusive to the pc?
