Final Fantasy 14 Details, Screens and Art Explosion
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 07, 2009 4:15am PDTSquare Enix has released a bevvy of screenshots, concept art and renders for its 2010-bound MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, along with details of class and quest systems.
Final Fantasy has only been announced for PC and PlayStation 3, though Square has said, "We are considering all options at this time" so an Xbox 360 release is possible.
Rather than use fixed classes, FFXIV players change equipment on the fly to specialise or generalise as they please in its four disciplines--Land, Hand, War and Magic.

Left, playable races. Right, the four discipline paths. The 'Guildleves' system will apparently allow players a degree of quest customisation, choosing from leves presented by the questgiver to affect the approach, risk and reward. "By coordinating the leves of multiple party members," Square says intriguingly, "adventurers can even plan grand campaigns built around several different quests."

The Dilligence leve gives menial dirty jobs, while Valor sees you protecting the weak.

I find leveling in WoW to be entertaining and easy but asian MMO's always seem to be the player finding the next level of mobs to grind on with little direction. Like they base their whole idea of what an MMO should be on EQ1 but add the carebear aspect of modern games.
I expect this to to follow that same formula as Square only innovates CGI but uses whatever stale gameplay they can impliment. Which is sad :(

I know they try to put a story in there, but 11 was incredibly dissimilar to 10 and 12.
