A demo of Paradox's Hearts of Iron III (PC) is now available on FileShack, allowing those interested in the strategy game to play through a tutorial and the first four months of World War II from the perspective of Germany, France, Poland or the United Kingdom.

The full version is slated to hit North American retailers and digital distribution outlets this Friday, August 7, with UK and Scandinavian shops getting the game on August 14 and those in France and Germany beginning to stock it on August 28.

These games have always scared me. Seems like so much to look over and do. I always want to give it another shot, maybe I will try this one and see how it goes.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I tried the first (or second, I forget which) but the game went way over my head. Wondering if this changes that.

I have been playing HOI for years, probably played it more than any other game due to the flexibility it provides in doing "what-if" scenarios. This is one of those games that seems daunting at first but once you get some core concepts it all falls in place and winds up being fairly easy to play.
