Remedy Community Highlights Petition to Save Alan Wake PC

A petition to Microsoft demanding an explanation for the "cancellation" of the PC version of Alan Wake was seemingly endorsed by the official Remedy community outlet today with a link on its official Twitter feed.

Written by the fans at alan-wake.de, the petition asks for Alan Wake publisher Microsoft to release a statement on why it "abruptly cancelled" work on the PC version, and requests the company to "strongly" reconsider its position.

Alan Wake was announced as a PC and Xbox 360 title in 2005, with the PC version's DirectX 10 support highly publicized at the time. Alan Wake PC has since been dropped from the launch plans by Microsoft, and Remedy says its fate is "up in the air."

The developer recently commented on the PC version's status last month, saying that it is now too late for it to be released alongside the Xbox 360 version, and reiterating that the ultimate fate of the PC title is in Microsoft's hands.

"Remedy has a deep heritage in PC gaming and would love to see a PC version available to its PC followers," said the company. "Ultimately however this decision lies with our publisher."

Shacknews has contacted Microsoft on the matter, but received no reply.

  • Microsoft get an extra royalty payment for every xbox game sold. Unlike PC games where they get nothing. Thus, if the PC owners are forced to buy the XBOX version then they make an extra 5-10 dollars, pounds or euro. So if they sell 2 million copies for the PC thats a loss of 20 million over the 360. I for one am gong to continue PC gaming. I do have a 360 and its gathering dust on a shelf as its no competitor for a good hi spec PC. ( And joy pads suck for shooters anyway. )

Microsoft have it in for PC gaming. The almighty dollar.

    Long live PC gaming.
