Monster Hunter Tri Gets Trailer, Release Window

7
Having previously said that a North American and European release of Monster Hunter Tri would arrive simply some time before March 30, 2010, Capcom today clarified that the Wii action game will hit those territories early next year.

Today's announcement is celebrated with the release of a new trailer, showing off the titular monster hunting and the weapons and armour crafted from the remains of slain beasts. The game, which hit Japan this past Saturday, was declared to be "Japan's first million-seller of a third-party title for the Wii" before it was even released.

I absolutely cannot wait for this game.

I had so much fun with the first one for the PS2.

Is the gameplay like Zelda where you lock on and can do like strafing with certain attack buttons? And is there character development in terms of stats, skills, levels, etc.?

I doubt VERY much that they will add a locking system to this one. None of the others have it and they seem pretty adamant to keep it that way.

Such a frustrating gameplay mechanic that spoils an otherwise fantastic game. Of course I played it on the PSP which I'm sure feels more gimped by comparison, but it really ruined it for me.

Locking on would gimp you a bit.
If you're locked on, then there is one point on a monster you're focused on.
Most monsters have many weak spots that you have to find, exploit, and cut off/break.

Yea, for the first couple of hours I really wanted a lock on system, but once I got used to it (and learned of the hook-method of camera control) I am more than fine without it.
