No More Fallout 3 DLC Planned After 'Zeta'
by Chris Faylor, Aug 03, 2009 8:09am PDTDeveloper Bethesda has confirmed that Mothership Zeta, the fifth downloadable expansion for its action-RPG Fallout 3, "is the last DLC we have planned."
Following a report from MTV Multiplayer, which noticed that Bethesda had referred to the add-on as the game's "final DLC," the studio told Joystiq that there are no plans for additional content, though it also cautioned that one should "never say 'never.'"
Released on PC and Xbox 360 today, Mothership Zeta is now available for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). The five downloadable add-ons are also headed to PlayStation 3, with the first batch due around September. Meanwhile, an enhanced "Game of the Year" edition of Fallout 3 hits retailers in October, bundling all of the DLC with the game itself.

Sometimes it pays to wait, baby. Hell, I wouldn't have played E:TW or Dawn of War II for another year had it not been for those ridiculous half-off deals. YAY to us who are behind the loop!

I traded in Fallout 3 for 360 and have been waiting for the Game of the Year Edition ever since. Hurry up, October! I want my expansions and GECK to play with!! :)

And I also refuse to re-buy the entire game so they better offer all DLCs together via Steam if they want to see my money.

While the DLC has been nice in that it has kept me playing, I have always wanted a full expansion to satiate my gaming needs.
Point Lookout came the closest, but it too was over too soon.

I understand the need to probably move the DLC team members on to newer unreleased retail projects.
Still, despite the end of DLC, I must say I have been very happy overall with the additional content and the fact that Bethesda did provide a metric assload of additional content. I now place them with Criterion (Burnout Paradise) in terms of lasting, ongoing value with the products they make.
More companies need to follow this example.

I guess sales weren't really good for the dlc if they are stopping them. I'm not sure why they couldn't keep making them once in a while.
It would be cool if we did get another couple of DLC packs to tide us over until New Vegas ships, but I just don't see that happening, alas.
