Paradox Entertainment has released the demo for East India Company, Nitro Games' title based around the historical intercontinental trade group. It may sound like a dry subject for a game, but judging from the screenshots, there is clearly some high-seas action to be had.

Grab the demo on FileShack. The full game is already available digitally on Steam, Direct2Drive and other digital retailers.

Do NOT buy this game. After spending an hour looking up a workaround for the game crashing on the loading screen for Vista then the in-game updater not working I decided put it up on E-Bay. I don't care how good it is if the company can't address simple issues like this they don't deserve our money

Why would you release screenshots with the lighting on the sails looking like that? Everything else looks decent, but the sails (the most important part!) are an abomination.

Really fun demo. I sat down to play, and next thing I knew, I had sunk 3 hours into it.

Unfortunately, it seems like it might get old quickly. The existence of loading screens for the (semi) unnecessary port view every time you want to load or unload cargo are annoying, and the information needed to make intelligent macro-scale choices is hard to find.

I'll probably pick this up for 15 or 20 bucks down the road.
