Dark Void Delayed to 'Avoid Competition'

By Chris Faylor, Jul 30, 2009 10:02am PDT Jet pack-tastic action game Dark Void has been delayed into 2010 "to avoid competition with releases of major titles of other companies," publisher Capcom announced today.

The Airtight-developed PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game was previously expected to hit North American and Europe by the end of September 2009, going by Capcom's past financial documents, with the title now due between January 1 and March 31, 2010.

Capcom also noted expectations that the game will sell 2 million copies by April 2010.

  • Wait a fucking minute? So they moved it to 2010, just like a bunch of other games for the same reason "competition"....but that's just creating more competition. Let's look at whats coming between January and April 2010:

Splinter Cell: Conviction, Bioshock 2, Singularity, Bayonetta, Red Steel 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, MAG, Darksiders, Aliens vs. Predator, and Alan Wake....

So those games aren't competition either? This is just fucked...just release the game when its ready because you're not getting any less competition in 2010. This generation of games has finally hit a huge stride with games coming out at all times of year. Just look at this summer, between May and August we got:

Ghostbusters, Prototype, inFamous, Red Faction Guerilla, Wii Sports Resort, Wolfenstein, Batman Arkum Asylum, and probably a lot more that I missed.

    Stupid....just stupid...

    • don't know about you, but I AM interested in this and I wouldn't have bought it in the same month where I already won't buy everything that is still coming out - Dragon Age + BrĂ¼tal Legend and later COD6/MW2 are probably already more than I have time to play... and then there are all those smaller releases on XBLA and so on.

Another important point is, of all those games you listed for 2010, most could be delayed again for some reasons.

and last but not least, look at the releases in the last months, publishers should finally start releasing more stuff in summer months.
