EA Sports MMA Game Gains Fedor, Others

World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko is among the first real-life fighters confirmed to be in EA Sports' upcoming MMA video game, the combatant and publisher jointly announced today.

Exactly how this move will affect Fedor's ongoing negotiations to potentially join the UFC remains unclear, though it's unlikely to be considered a plus as league president Dana White has threatened to ban any fighter from the UFC if they sign with EA.

Gegard Mousasi and Babalu Sobral were also confirmed to appear in the upcoming game, which is slated to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

The UFC isn't the only game in town. I'm sure Fedor can go and make money fighting in the WEC or something. :)

This week Fedor was offered a $30 million 6 fight deal and M-1 turned it down. The deal would have allowed Fedor to fight in Sambo competitions, given Fedor and M-1 a cut of PPV revenue on top of the guaranteed money, and allowed M-1 to advertise on the mat and Fedor's clothing.

M-1 wanted to co-promote, which the UFC, understandably, will not do, and reportedly refused the contract offer. Fedor will not make nearly that much money anywhere else as that would have been the most lucrative contract in MMA history.

Fedor and M-1 can go fuck themselves.

Meh, Randy Couture is supposed to be on the cover so clearly Dana is willing to make exceptions for fighters than can guarantee him a big payday.

Dana White's edicts are only in effect to the point they prevent him from making more money. If he sees anything that helps him all past "bans" mean nothing. Maybe EA can make a better fighting game than undisputed which hardly lives up to its namesake compared to FN3.
