World of Warcraft has netted 8.6 million sales across its various releases, expansion packs and bundles from US retail, according to NPD data provided to Gamasutra.

The figure includes the base edition of World of Warcraft, the Collector's Edition, its two expansions The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, and Battle Chest bundle.

Dabbling in speculation and presuming an average selling price of $30, Gamasutra calculates that the Blizzard MMORPG's retail sales could come to a grand $258 million.

If SIms and MMOs are all thats left for PC gaming it -will- be dead soon enough. Not that I have a problem with the Sims. Shit is fun.

MMOs however are horribad and you should feel bad for liking them.

Have you forgotten what the the PC platform litterally shits on consoles with? FPSs, your dear titles do extremely well on PC if you have forgotten that genre.

I'm a PC gamer myself, chimp-brains. I was bemoaning how casual the PC market was getting when most of it's heavy sales were made up of sissy games like WoW and Sims. Way to miss the point.

PC Gaming is rising yet again. Notice the majority of popular console games are historically PC devs/franchises/genres. Consoles are in the toilet for creative games.
