Croteam Killing 'Cartoony Look' for Serious Sam 3

21
Serious Sam developer Croteam says that the next sequel in the fast-paced shooter series will leave behind the stylized visuals of Serious Sam 2.

"I believe Serious Sam fans would want to hear the following two things," said Croteam chief Roman Ribaric. "First, Serious Sam 3 will play like the original Serious Sam. And second, we'll leave the cartoony look behind."

Added Ribaric: "As for standing up to other games: simply, if it's good to play, it's good to play. Serious Sam games belong to their own unique fast-paced FPS genre and should best be compared to previous Serious Sam games."

No details on platforms or a release schedule for Serious Sam 3 are currently known. Croteam is currently focused on releasing Serious Sam HD, a remake of the original title for Xbox Live and PC.

Serious sam is now serious business. I liked the cartoony look of Serious Sam 1. It didn't even look "that" cartoony.

Serious Sam 1 was bright and colorful and looked a bit cartoony due to low poly models and hardware limitations. Serious Sam 2 looked like a CG nickelodeon show.
