Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack #3 Announced

by Alice O'Connor, Jul 20, 2009 9:29am PDT

Treyarch has announced a third map pack is in development for its WW2 shooter Call of Duty: World at War, scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in August.

The map pack contains three new multiplayer arenas--Battery, Revolution and Breach--as well as one new map for the zombie mode titled Der Riese--'The Giant.'

No price was stated, though the two previous packs each cost $10 (800 Microsoft Points). While Treyarch made no mention of a PC release, such was the case with the previous map pack--which arrived on PC for free five weeks after the console release.

  • I like what they tried to do with the second, Japanese themed map pack zombie map, but the map just isn't well balanced.

The outside areas made it far to easy to strafe the zombies into one large group and simply back-peddle while taking them out with that new Wunderwaffle electricity gun. This is particularly noticeable in single player, where there aren't nearly as many zombies (there are many more in co-op, though I don't know the exact numbers), which makes it easy to reach very high levels.

It was also almost pointless to even have boarded up windows in that level. They don't do much after about 5 or 6 rounds because most of the zombies come out of the water and over the fences.
