ModNation Racers Trailer Introduces the LittleBigPlanet of Racing Games

United Front's lighthearted PS3 racing title ModNation Racers appears to live up to its billing as the LittleBigPlanet of racing titles in this first trailer. Super-deformed characters and goofy skins, level creation and sharing, rockets and slapping--there's a lot to like in this first glimpse.

The only downside is the wait, as ModNation Racers won't make it to stores until 2010.

FUCK THIS GAME

the art style is like something you see on one of those "make an avatar of yourself!" internet banner ads. the gameplay looks awful and stupid, an unholy love child of mario kart and NFS: underground.

the... track editor actually looks pretty neat. but that's it.

My favorite part is at 1:10 when the missile pathfinding craps out at the entrance to the bridge. Good thing there's a smoke trail to make it totally obvious.
