by Nick Breckon, Jul 14, 2009 7:04pm PDTElectronic Arts will play host to a panel on homophobia in videogame culture organized by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation this Saturday.
Representatives from Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Linden Labs, GayGamer.net and the Entertainment Software Association will be present. Topics will include "how to provide safe spaces for LGBT people online, how to ensure the best policies are in place to prevent virtual attacks against LGBT people and how to educate the users of online communities about the effects of homophobia."
As Gamasutra points out, GLAAD has become increasingly active in the gaming sphere. GLAAD director of digital media recently published an editorial on "The Impact of Homophobia in Virtual Communities."

I'm not gay but if someone harrash me in a game i want to appear as an add in another game too, and appear in internet news and so on.
Seriously, how are we going to take these asotiations serious if they over react to everything?.
These associations make lots and lots of actions thinking they are special, and then they want to be accepted as equal.
Its like the girl that put that she was lesbian in her Xbox live tag. An then some people noticed that, and reported it, probably they laughed too, but its normal because its not the place.
Its like if someone goes to a vegetarian restaurant and wants to eat meat, they are going to laugh, because its not the place. Or like pretending to go swimming on a Baseball stadium, people is going to laugh.
And then microsoft banned the girl for posting her sexual preferences, because in the agreements you accept when creating an account, says that posting your sexual preferences is forbidden wich is good, because its a gamming system and not a dating one.
Then the gays and lesbian association, takes only the info that the girl has been banned and its lesbian, and turn blind eyes to the rest of the details of the story.
Then they demonize microsoft, and because microsoft doesnt want to loose money, they apologize.
That is just an example of the over reactions these assotiations do.
Maybe one day they wake up and see that they are not doing things right, the objetive of beeing accepted by the rest is good, but making yourself special and over reacting isn't the right way to do it.
