Fallout 3 'Mothership Zeta' DLC Gets Release Date
by Chris Faylor, Jul 14, 2009 8:09am PDTMothership Zeta, the last of the five announced downloadable expansions for Fallout 3, will debut on Monday, August 3, developer Bethesda announced today.
Priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10), the add-on will be available for PC and Xbox 360 players that day, with PlayStation 3 owners of the action-RPG getting it a bit later on. Originally, Mothership Zeta was slated to arrive in late July, marking a slight delay.
Along with the above screenshots, Bethesda issued a fact sheet detailing the new items, locations and story elements to be found in the expansion. Remember, all five bits of Fallout 3 DLC will be bundled alongside the original adventure in a "Game of the Year Edition" due to hit stores come October at $59.99 on PS3/Xbox 360 and $49.99 on PC.
Mothership Zeta Fact SheetDESCRIPTION: Defy hostile alien abductors and fight your way off of the massive Mothership Zeta, orbiting Earth miles above the Capital Wasteland. Mothership Zeta takes Fallout 3 in an entirely new direction - outer space. Meet new characters and join with them in a desperate bid to escape the Aliens' clutches. To do so, you'll wield powerful new weapons, like the Alien Atomizer, Alien Disintegrator, and Drone Cannon, and deck yourself out in brand new outfits, like the Gemini-Era Spacesuit and even Samurai Armor.
STORY: A strange Alien signal is being broadcast throughout the Capital Wasteland, originating from a crashed UFO. Is it a distress call, or something far more sinister? That question is answered when you find yourself beamed aboard an enormous Alien spacecraft, with only one alternative - to fight your way to the bridge of the ship and secure your escape.
KEY FEATURES:
- Find and exploit new and destructive alien technology, like the Alien Atomizer and Drone Cannon.
- Explore the vast Mothership and learn the secrets of the Aliens' master plan.
- Thwart the Aliens' attempt to stop your escape, and take over the Alien ship before it wreaks havoc on the unsuspecting Earth below.
- Fight against the Alien Invaders, their robot drones, and turn their own horrible experiments against them.
- Ally yourself with an unexpected array of characters, both from the Capital Wasteland and from Earth's past.

that's my best translation.
I'm also curious as to what will be the ammo for the new weapons.
I want to know what the big deal with Recon Craft Theta is. Why did it crash ? What was it doing on earth in the first place.

So...I paid $50 for the PC version when it was released. And now they're going to be selling the PC version for the same price but with all the DLC included. Do I get free access to the DLC then? I mean really, WTF???

I hope Bethesda uses a more updated or modern graphics engine with their next big release.

Never got fallout 3, but I definitely will now. Anyone know if it's possibly to play without that cheap VATS thing?

Anyway, I'll refrain any further judgment till it's out, as that description may just be written by a marketing person that doesn't know the skinny.

WTF am I going to do until Fall 2010 when New Vegas hits (if it even makes that release date and it probably won't)?
And finally, for Fallout 4, Gamebryo out. ID Tech in.

Not sure about the whole alien thing, but I'll give it a shot as I have been very happy with the rest of the DLC.
