Morning Squidussion
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 14, 2009 6:50am PDTThere's a special chipper energy floating around the Shacknews virtual office this morning, the kind of energy that can only be channelled through cephalopods.
Squid and octopodes are of course the stars of the class, and even cuttlefish get a little screen time, but the poor nautilus is all too often forgotten. Few believe she was in that graduating class all those millions of years ago as her classmates have changed so much since then, but she was there alright. Secured tight inside a beautiful shell, with cold uncaring eyes and dozens of tentacles, she's my kind of cephalopod.

I've got a review BlackBerry Tour in today. early impressions:
- it really is like a Bold and a Curve 8900 had a lovechild (minus the Wi-Fi). that's a good thing, since it's not so fat as a Bold but has a good keyboard and a great display.
- lack of Wi-Fi isn't a huge hangup, but it would be really handy (I hear it's getting Wi-Fi in 2010).
- glossy back :( it's not a huge issue, but the Curve 8900 and Bold don't have this problem!
- RIM needs to get a modern OS. it's not terrible like Windows Mobile, but it's definitely built by a company that's catering to 5,000-unit enterprise deployments and not people who want a user-friendly interface uber alles.
TLDR: probably the best CDMA BlackBerry yet (and that includes the Storm).
