Command & Conquer 4 Details and Media

After Command & Conquer 4's accidental announcement yesterday, EA has revealed details and media from the "epic conclusion to the beloved Tiberium universe."

With Tiberium threatening to render Earth entirely uninhabitable, the warring Nod and GDI factions find themselves with the common goal of saving humanity, and at long last the world will discover "Kane's motivations behind his decade-long plan."

"A multitude of innovations" are promised, including "new class-based gameplay, mobile bases and persistent player progression throughout all game modes."

As well as the usual pair of singleplayer campaigns--which can be played solo or cooperatively--C&C 4 will introduce "a new 5v5 objective-based multiplayer mode."

Command & Conquer 4 is slated to arrive on PC in 2010, developed by EA Los Angeles.

EA doesn't strike me as making smart long term business decisions like Activision has.

The GH and CoH series sell like crazy. I don't know how well CC3 sold but to conclude a series seems a bit odd from a business point of view.

      You mean CoD, right?

This is only the conclusion to the Tiberium arm of C&C, but it is surprising for them to lop off perhaps its best-known limb.

They can retire the storyline without exiting the command and conquer brand. Remember there is Red Alert, and they can make further spin offs. If C&C keeps shipping the numbers it has been, it isnt likely to going away soon.

Halo 3 was also the end of the Halo 'trilogy.'

Halo Wars, Halo: ODST, and Halo: Reach are completely unrelated.

Well they are obviously related but don't feature the same main character. I don't remember but ODST is supposed to be in between two of the Halo games and expand that story. So related, but different characters.

That just means they'll spin off another C&C franchise. It's not like Tiberium was the only storyline they had.

They have to cut off the Tiberium series eventually. Joseph Kucan isn't getting any younger, and once he's too old to appear as Kane (or gets tired of it and refuses to reprise the role) the series will be finished, as far as I'm concerned.
