Tales of Monkey Island Chapter One Demo Released, Game Officially Launches
by Nick Breckon, Jul 07, 2009 5:07pm PDTDeveloper Telltale has released the demo for Tales of Monkey Island Chapter One: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, the first episode of its five-game revival of the classic adventure franchise. Grab it now on FileShack.
Following a period of site downtime, the PC version of the chapter is also now available to purchase from Telltale's official site and Steam. The WiiWare version is set for a later release.
While my impressions of the first chapter were mixed, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Telltale does with the rest of the series. And hey, the demo's free, so there's no excuse not to give it a shot. It's not every day a Monkey Island game is released.

Mouse: You can't point and click to move Guybrush, you have to click and drag to move him. Very hard to move around the screen this way. You can point and click on anything on the screen and this is the easiest way to interact with the inventory.
Keyboard: It seems easy at first but moving around and getting hung on edges gets annoying quickly.
360 Gamepad: The best way to move Guybrush. He moves natually across the screen and is easy to control. However interacting with anything else is a complete pain. in the game your first task is to click on a piece of paper, the voodoo recipe, on your ship's mast. The problem is you can't get your character anywhere near it to click on it. You are selecting the hatch no mater where you are. You have to go off screen, look at Elaine and then you can select the voodoo recipe.
I'll work with the mouse controls but man, this shouldn't be an issue with this genre.
