Morning Squidussion, Eh?

by Alice O'Connor, Jul 01, 2009 5:00am PDT

Today is of course the holiday of Canada Day, commemorating the event of Canada and Britain pulling together to break up, swearing we would always remain best of friends.

A special Canuckian cephalopod fact is that the humble humboldt squid--feared for its toothed tentacles, tendency to attack divers, and cooperative hunting--has been spotted dotted along the Canadian Pacific coast in recent years. You lucky ducks you!

  • Having not followed any main marvel universe stuff for years, i decided to go onto wikipedia and just see where things were. Fucking hell does Marvel ever need an Crisis type event to reset some shitty writing over the last while.
I don't have a problem with people writing new things for characters but i do have a problem with people taking a classic story and adding in their own new twist to it.
Wolverine for example is getting the weapon x storyline hacked up with some mastermind behind the scenes his ENTIRE LIFE. All this comes after his memories were entirely restored a few years back.
Steve Rogers is somehow coming back after getting a bullet through the head.

The ultimate books were great in their retelling and reworking of stories, but now they've left those in the hands of Loeb and he's cleaned house with a cliche finale series for the universe so he can do a reboot of everything under his guidance.

  • I can't believe all the gaming/tech (engadget, 1up, g4tv, joystiq, etc) sites are running articles saying sony may bring back PS2 emulation to the PS3 because they've patented emulating the emotion engine on the cell processor. This isn't something new for sony. The cell processor on the PS3 has been able to emulate the EE since the 60gb European models (and early 80gb US models) were released.

The thing holding back PS2 emulation is the GPU. The PS3 models with "software emulation" still had the GPU from the PS2 doing the graphics work. This is what sony needs to emulate in order to make PS2 games playable on ALL PS3 models.
