Evening Reading

Have a cool John Carmack/Tom Mustaine interview going up in a couple, mostly talking about Doom: Resurrection and iPhone development. I'm not sure Doom: Resurrection is my cup of tea, but the tech/mechanics behind it are certainly clever and well implemented.

I think it's awesome to see them still utilizing the Q3 engine. It's sort of a benchmark of the last 10 years, when we develop Eyeglass holoprojection gaming, the first FPS it runs will be Q3 to show the world the device is ready for primetime.

In all fairness, there's no harm in them releasing it.

I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be a replacement for the PC version, but it'll be a fun diversion while you're having lunch at work or whatever.

peer to peer connectivity happens over bluetooth. Plus you could use wifi too

Not to mention Wolfenstein showed us that a FPS on a touchscreen can be done well.
