Dawn of War 2 Battle Report Brings the Dakka

Relic has released another Dawn of War 2 Battle Report, this time illustrating the 'There Is Only War' update's reworked balance with a Space Marine versus Ork matchup.

'There Is Only War' also brings eight new maps and a map editor to the Warhammer 40K RTS. The patch is due later this summer, with an open beta beginning in early July.

I get the feeling that Relic has a very different understanding of the game than I do. I also get the feeling that my understanding is better. Apparently they think that in the current patch the beginning of the game is only a formality and that it's really decided near the end, for instance. That's not my impression.

Anyone else catch the part where they said their artists are working on more maps? It seems like someone who can actually balance a game should make the maps, not an artist.

I just haven't been able to get into multilayer DoW 2. The origional DoW was more fun for me, personaly, than the DoW 2 multiplayer. I think my mind will always be influenced by Star Craft when it comes to RTS multi player. RTS where you don't have to construct a base feels sorta empty to me.

Their single player and co-op is a blast though, some of the best RTS experiences I've had.

Glad to see orks are getting some reworking. Nice to see the ROKS fall faster. I use that pretty frequently, and people always retreat to base leaving me with nothing. All of the other global abilities are a lot faster-or they prevent you from going anywhere.
