Trine Demo Released, Game Dated for July 3

The demo for Frozenbyte's enticing downloadable co-op game Trine has been released, and we've now got it up on FileShack.

A physics-based platformer of sorts, Trine will allow players to switch between a Thief, Wizard, or Warrior character as they progress through fantasy-themed levels. It's a little bit Lost Vikings, and a little bit LittleBigPlanet.

Trine is looking at a July 3 release on PC, with a PlayStation 3 release coming shortly after--likely July 9, according to comments made by Frozenbyte. The PC version will be available for preorder on Steam in the coming days. An Xbox Live version is coming later on by way of Atlus.

Now the question is, which version to get? I'm guessing both will be beautiful, but I wonder how the Dualshock handles compared to the K+M control, especially considering you have to "draw" objects into existence as the wizard/mage character. Playing this on the big screen is very tempting though.

Nice demo, ran at a decent 25 fps with high settings on a dated Geforce 6800 ultra. Just a shame the demo has no coop!

Half the graphic textures are missing. Ran it with AA off, just changed the res to 1680 x 1050 and I'm jumping on invisible hills and boxes.

Latest 186.18 Nvidia drivers.
2 GeForce 8800 in SLI
Quad Core 3.2 GHz.
4GB RAM

It ran flawlessly with everything on the highest settings at 1280x1024 res., 4xAA and 8xAF at a solid 50FPS. Using 2GB RAM and a 9800GT with the latest drivers (and a crappy Intel E5200 CPU)

So awesome. It controls surprisingly well with kb+mouse for a platformer. Grapple controls can get a bit wonky, but it was mostly my fault. Not sure if any new media has been released since I last saw this game, but I'm hoping for more varied environments. Either way, I'm just happy it runs as good as it looks. Runs like butter at 1080p with maxed settings. Can't wait to try it out on the PS3.

Also, I don't know about you, but for one reason (the rainbows amirite) or another, this demo was getting me wet for Diablo 3 all over again. :[
