So Ghostbusters for the PC is a bit of a turd.
The installer is fucked, and won't install properly if you try to install it anywhere else but the default.
There doesn't seem to be any work done to make the user interface mouse/PC friendly. It seems like a direct console port.
Mouse control is absolutely horrible in game; it seems like they are using the mouse to emulate a joystick or something, because the responsiveness doesn't seem linear, it's laggy, and just generally horrible. I tried to fix it upping the sensitivity but nothing I did really solved the problem.
And no Multiplayer. :(

The up side is that if you play with a 360 controller the game works great, but if you're playing on PC my guess is that you wanted to play with the keyboard+mouse.
The game is fun, but the PC port is just that, a direct port.

Minecraft I must say there really isn't much that compares to griefing in this game, sneaking onto some random server, finding a well made structure and surreptitiously flooding it brings me back to the good old days of UO.

Ever heard of the band Polvo? I'm guessing those who have are few and far between and that's unfortunate because they made some really great rock (I suppose people would call it something like math rock) in the 90's. They broke up around 1997 but reformed recently and are putting out their first album in 12 years. I just heard a new song off it and it's pretty wicked. Do yourself a favor and check it out:

After 6 years of having gamefly service I'm considering cancelling. I have 5 games in my queue and 2 slots available just waiting because all 5 games are either medium or low availability.

Anybody else experiencing this? Is it a trend? I've had occasional availability issues, but not to this extreme.

Mass Effect is retardedly replayable, especially with the ability to interrupt people and cruise through dialogue (especially if you like being an asshole!). I'm trying to create the perfect character, and I think I like the Adept with Assault Rifle addon. Fucking harsh. I wish character creation had more options, it feels a little limited, but it's fun to mess with.

Hardcore difficulty is a nice challenge, I'm enjoying actually being challenged by my encounters. I'm still a little torn on micromanaging teammates, it's nice to be able to but I like the gameflow more when they just do their thing.

What do you most want to see improved in ME2? The random planets and the Mako need a serious overhaul. They're by far the weakest part of the game.

AT&T released a new policy for iPhone 3G S upgrading today: http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=13745

mportantly, we want our customers to better understand our wireless device upgrade program. Like most U.S. carriers, we offer a variety of phones that we sell below our actual cost when customers agree to sign service agreements. In general, the more a customer spends with us, the quicker they become eligible for a price break on a new device. For example, iPhone customers who spend more than $99 a month per line with us generally are eligible for an upgrade between 12 and 18 months into their contract. We also currently offer early upgrade pricing only for iPhone 3G S and iPhone 3G. All of that said, we’ve been listening to our customers. And since many of our iPhone 3G customers are early adopters and literally weeks shy of being upgrade eligible due to iPhone 3G S launching 11 months after iPhone 3G, we’re extending the window of upgrade eligibility for a limited time. We’re now pleased to offer our iPhone 3G customers who are upgrade eligible in July, August or September 2009 our best upgrade pricing, beginning Thursday, June 18.

As explained to me by customer support about 2 hours ago, this means that if you bought an iPhone 3G in July, August or September of last year, and your wireless bill costs more than $100/month, you are eligible for the fully discounted upgrade price on the iPhone 3G S starting tomorrow.

Previously my upgrade date showed 12/12/2009, which is 18 months into my contract. My bill is $102.42/mo, that's unlimited data ($30), unlimited texting ($20), 450 minutes ($40), and assorted fees/taxes. The new policy above says that with a $100+/mo bill and a July purchase date on my iPhone 3G, I should be eligible for an immediate upgrade. This change was effective on upgrade dates as of 6AM this morning (as told to me by AT&T Customer Support), so if you aren't currently eligible for the fully reduced upgrade price, here's what I did.

After 20 minutes on the phone with customer support, I convinced the Tier 1 operator that I met all the criteria of this new policy. She said that the computers were updating and to bring this up with them when I get the phone in the morning, but not wanting to explain myself again I suggested that they could change the upgrade date on my account. When she said that she could not personally change my upgrade date, I asked to be escalated to a supervisor. He was already removing the upgrade date when she transferred me, and after confirming via www.att.com/wireless (bottom left, "check upgrade eligibility") that I was upgrade eligible, that was it. I was on the phone with Tier 1 for 20 minutes and with her supervisor for about 45 seconds.

Job Hunting Advice: Cover Letter Edition

I took my Super Awesome Resume that the Shack helped me to create and uploaded it to my Monster.com account today, I had a revision that was close but not quite the same there, and went about applying for jobs and stuff. Then I took a nap. While napping I got an email from a company I would love to work for, one of their "Sr. Staffing Consultants" contacted me and told me to send in a copy of my resume to him, along with links to information about the area where the job posting would take place.

I really want this job, I think it'd be awesome with tits on top to get this job, so I turn to the Shack for help. Do I write a cover letter as well? I think I should. Does anyone want to help on this? If you help me in this and I get some kind of awesome thing like an interview out of it I'll owe you people that help some sort of favor, like a Shackmeet thrown at where ever I do find a job or some other shit like that. Fuck if I know but I really want this job! Flipping out!

Magic the Gathering on Xbox360

Soooo if you buy this game on xbox live, apparently you get a free foil promo Planeswalker Garruk Wildspeaker physical card that you get when you enter a code on the MTG website. I don't play physical Magic, and i was delighted to see this game as I play MTG Online with the free basic decks. What struck me is, as I do follow the new sets when they come out, that the Planeswalkers cards are a pretty penny.

Checking ebay, the buy it now for the regular (non-foil) ones are $17. So I buy the game, get the free card, eBay it when I get it, and I'll get my money back and then some.

Probably the first and only time I'll say "Thank you Wizards of the Coast".

If anyone wants to play, my gamertag is Acidravelamp.

I am trying to format this external harddrive so i can put music on it and plug it into my 360. Apparently the 360 can't read NTFS formatted drives. So how do I format this with FAT32? When I go my comp, right click, format the only option for the drive is NTFS. Is there a program I can download (Im in XP) that will let me format this the way I want?

I have a batch file that launches a few other batch files. It works correctly if I run the batch file from a command prompt. If I run it with Process.Start in .NET the batch files it launches fail because they don't seem to have the full path or something (like it fails with .\MyCalledScript.bat is not recognized as an internal/external command). What do I need to set on the Process object to get it working?

So batman is still dead huh and dick grayson took over now?

How the hell could DC mess this up? The death of Steve Rogers was all over the papers and as much as I love Captain America, Batman is far more popular character and I haven't hear anything about it from the mainstream media at all. I figured a new batman would have at least been talked about by the comic book nerds around here, hell the only reason I found out about it was because of wikipedia and general curiosity.
