Morning Discussion

From the news item directly below this, I can deduce today is Tuesday. Ah hah! Summer might appear to have arrived in jolly old Blighty at long last, though I shouldn't get too cocky and rush out to enjoy it as the threat of rain always lingers. If only parasol and umbrella could somehow be combined into a single convenient shielding accessory.

    Shacker Dungeons & Dragons 4E

According to legend, when the gods made war against the primordials at the dawn of time, the battles raged across the cosmos for uncounted centuries. The gods slowly gained the upper hand, successfully imprisoning or banishing many of the primordials. However, this war threatened the very existence of the world, as the primordials who brought it forth from the Elemental Chaos clashed with the gods who sought to fix the form of the world in permanence. In the last days of the war, a new force made itself known in the cosmos: the spiritual expression of the world itself. These primal spirits declared an end to the conflict, asserting that the world would no longer be a battleground for the two opposing forces.

Yeah, I'm still not sure about these. I haven't read the guidelines yet, but just the description doesn't sound like something I'd want to do; part of the reason I like RPGA/LFR is that the DM doesn't have to do anything. For DMs with the creative itch and limited time, though, it could be cool. I do like that it's clearly part of their emphasis on letting people play how/when they want to.

Make a drinking game out of each time amrbean misses an attack roll and you'll be hammered 3 rounds into the first combat.

That will just bring your rolling deficiencies into sharper focus.

They are so fucking awesome. I have only used them in one session but I LOVE the way they bounce erratically because of their sharp edges. Be sure to roll them on a hard surface; not a battlemat or anything. :D

You're doing it wrong! The whole point is that they don't bounce. They come to a stop much quicker than die which have been polished (which rounds their edges and lets them roll).

How could I possibly be rolling dice wrong

And yes, they come to a stop quicker, but they do bounce much much more erratically than tumbled dice because of their sharp edges. I didn't say they bounce for a long time or roll for a long time, just that they move erratically. I like that.

Can I watch? I'll be quite. I've never seen anyone play D&D and I have no idea what goes on. Even though my brother was a DM for years (he didn't live with us) and even my wife played when she was a kid.

Man, D&D creation myths are so bland compared to organized religion. But then again, how do you top a creator zombie who you have to cannibalize in order to gain immortality?
