Star Wars: The Old Republic's Smuggler Class Detailed

15
While the cinematic trailer for BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic got the gaming public's attention during E3, the Smuggler class was one of the real highlights behind closed doors.

Not only is the class modeled on Han Solo--complete with sucker-punch melee moves--but it also introduces the first cover system in an MMO. The game will dynamically assign nearby points of cover, allowing players to jump behind objects during firefights.

The below combat clips, released by BioWare today, presents a quick look at the class in action. For more on The Old Republic, check out our E3 impressions.

Hopefully this is more than just a gimmick and is actually useful more than 1% of the time.

      It's probably situational.

The smuggler cover thing should spice it up some so it wont just be and bunch of people standing in the open shooting at each other. You will probably be light armor and will be squishy like a rogue so you avoid getting hit by taking cover but still able to attack from it. So that would make WoW's rogue and feral druid stealth a gimmick as well.

People give blizzard 15$ and bitch and complain about how bad the game sucks. Almost everyone i used to play WOW who still complain about how boring it is and they don't even feel like logging on. And I bet there is at least 5 million other people playing who feel the same way. The beauty of MMO's is once you get bored of then you can just cancel your subscription.

        Depends on the level design.

You'll be ducked behind cover while a jedi/sith comes up to slice you open? eh?

      Crafting profession: Cover Box maker

Pop the item and a crate pops up right in front of you for cover!
