More Guitar Hero 5 Songs Revealed 'Under Pressure'

While publisher Activision has been rather tight-lipped regarding the songs found in Guitar Hero 5--only a few tracks have been announced--developer Neversoft confirmed a couple more of the licensed in-game tunes during a presentation last week.

Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," A Perfect Circle's "Judith" and Blink 182's "The Rock Show" were among the previously unknown songs shown in a hands-off demonstration of the upcoming multi-instrument music game sequel.

In addition, director Brian Bright confirmed to Shacknews that, as indicated by the list of included bands, David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure" will be in the game. While Bright had previously lamented that a missing masters meant the song was practically impossible to get in the game, he told us that the recording "magically appeared."

And though the majority of the sequel's 85 tracks remain unknown, Bright vowed that "there's no filler in this soundtrack."

When asked why most, but not all, of the downloadable content released for Guitar Hero World Tour will be compatible with Guitar Hero 5, he explained that there is no technical reason for those songs not to work--implying that it's a legal issue with licensing.

The director also touched briefly on the subject of user-made content, noting that Neversoft has made several upgrades to the GH Tunes music editor, such as better sound quality, with the studio still looking into the possibility of backwards compatibility with the 200,000-plus songs that were created with that of Guitar Hero World Tour.

Tossing the idea of virtual scarcity aside--up to four players can now play guitar tracks simultaneously, for example, with difficulty and instruments changeable mid-song--Guitar Hero 5 hits PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 1.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

if under pressure really does appear in this game, im definately buying it! I didn't buy 4 or metallica because I think they are just milking GH for what its worth, but I really dont care anymore, as long as Under Pressure and more good songs are put on it ill buy it.

Say what you like about GHM, but GH:WT was most certainly NOT a milking of the franchise. They needed to hold up against Harmonix so it was only logical they added full band support. GH3 couldn't even give DLC to wii and it was hardly fit to stay as a full game for years to come, was it?
