The Sims 3 Sales Set Record for EA

Electronic Arts has made its expected declaration of Sims domination following last week's release of The Sims 3.

The company claims the PC/Mac game sold more than 1.4 million units at launch, making it EA's biggest launch on the PC to date.

EA also noted that over 7 million pieces of player-created content have been downloaded already. That's a lot of wallpaper.

Theres hardly any difference between this and Sims 2. You know how EA makes a new NCAA football every year and they are identical other than the updated roster and 1 or 2 new features? Well, they've basically done that with the sims now.

I wonder if they will still bitch about piracy. After all, this had no butt raping DRM as far as I am concerned. Maybe they see that it works too.

I bought it. Great game, but I wish they had bigger fish tanks than the bowl. Oh well, I can buy one, I am sure, for $3.99 on the website.

I read that some people enjoy the potential for sadism in this game. I have to admit that in the first Sims game, which was back when we were in college, my brother and I found it vastly amusing to get a married woman to fall in love with his character, and then to off her husband by "editing" the ladders out of the swimming pool when he was doing his morning laps. He drowns, we profit!

Then we felt bad and reloaded. God, I can't even be evil in a GAME.

I've already downloaded around 5 items and they were all free. That's about the average number of items per copy sold to the total number of downloads.

You know what would be kind of cool? Having a Surface DIY Media PC with the Sims 3 running on it and having all your friends in it and when they come over the game would recognize (via bluetooth or something) their phones and have them come over in the game..
