Metal Gear Solid Coming to PlayStation Network

Continuing its spree of Metal Gear Solid news, Konami has announced that the original PSone title Metal Gear Solid is set to come to the PlayStation Network this month.

Arriving on June 17, the classic stealth game will be priced at $9.99 for the PlayStation 3 and PSP. Konami also noted that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available under the PlayStation 3 Greatest Hits label from June 16 for $30.

Why do these developers/publishers think they can charge 10 bucks for a game that's almost 10 years old? Thankfully, I still have all these oldies but goodies on original disc. These conglomerates are nickel-&-diming us to death with these "re-releases", DLC, and add-on content that IMHO isn't worth half as much as they are charging to distribute something digitally - with no overhead costs...

You can still find the MGS Essential Collection (which includes 1, 2, and 3) at most EB Games/Gamestop locations for 29.99 New - cheaper used. Though I guess this is more appealing to those without backwards compatibility.

Hey, nice, I think I'll actually buy this. I loved the original but played it on my brothers PS1 back then and have since never bought it myself for my PS2. It would be nice to finally own a copy.
