Shack PSA: Wolfenstein 3D Hits Xbox 360 Today, PS3 Tomorrow

As promised last week, the grandpappy of the first-person shooter as we know it is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and arrives in the PlayStation Store tomorrow.

The Noctural Missions expansion pack is included, bringing the release to a whopping sixty levels across six episodes. And you get to fight Mecha-Hitler. Who could resist?

Be astonished if the PS3 version looks notably different to these 360 screenshots.

Nazi treasure found on your escape from Castle Wolfenstein will apparently grant accolades and gold in Raven's series revamp Wolfenstein, due out on August 4.

The Xbox 360 version of Wolfenstein 3D is priced at 400 Microsoft Points, and the PlayStation 3 release tomorrow will cost that figure's real-world equivalent of $5.

That looks good. It would be nice to see the improved sprites from the Jaguar / Mac versions, but at the price it's a pretty good way to experience a pivotal moment in first person shooters. Here's hoping they didn't go to the trouble to optimize for multiprocessing on the 360, or for the SPEs in the PS3...
