Evening Reading

by Chris Faylor, Jun 02, 2009 7:20pm PDT

Another eventful day on the E3 2009 front. So eventful, in fact, that Nick Breckon and I will continue to burn the midnight oil here our in our hotel room--located conveniently across from the Los Angeles Convention Center!--as we continue to write about today's various bounties, including Dragon Age: Origins and Fallout 3's "Point Lookout" DLC.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our E3 2009 section for all the goods that the conference has brought about thus far. As for now, we're off to find some sort of nutritious edibles.

  • Question for people from the UK/ EU

I'm moving to Berlin in a month or so and i'm just trying to get my stuff in order before i go!
Right now i work doing freelance web design, i make enough money from that and other side projects to survive, and i intend to keep this going when i move to berlin. I'll be working with the same clients i work with at home, so from my perspective nothing will have changed, i wont be looking for work in berlin etc... but how does this affect me legally when it comes to tax and so forth? All my payment will be going directly in to my British business account from British clients, so will i be breaking the law in germany by doing this, or am i ok? I'm planning to be there for 6-12 months if that makes any difference.

Secondly do i contact my local council or whoever to inform them i'm leaving the country? I've had trouble with the council charging me council tax previously for properties i moved on from years ago and other similar issues. Or can i just finish my tenancy here and fuck off without saying anything?

Lastly my passport is due to run out in 2010, i was hoping to replace it before i left but i'm having to travel elsewhere before I leave for berlin next month, so it would be to chancey to replace it and hope I recieved the new one in time (also don't wanna pay for the crazy fast track passport thing) Will this be a problem returning from berlin on this passport next year? As long as i return before the expirary date (july i think?) Reason i ask is some countries like the USA some time dont accept a passport as legit if there is only a couple of months to a year left on it. Thoughts?

    Thanks for the help
