First Supreme Commander 2 Trailer Released

Publisher Square Enix has released the first trailer for the sequel to Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander. Unfortunately it's an entirely CG affair, a teaser for the large-scale RTS that's set for a 2010 release on Xbox 360 and PC.

The original SC and FA were fantastic, but the GPG multiplayer client is a worthless mess and I certainly hope they will find a new system now that Square is boss. Frankly, I'd happily put up with GFWL just to avoid EVER touching GPG again. Steam would be better, obviously.

That, and I'd like a bit more effort put into the single player.

All up, good game, though.

It would be great if SC2 had a persistent online universe where players could choose their race/faction and battle it out. HINT HINT GPG.

I grabbed a copy but after all the negative feedback I read about it, the disc is just sitting there. Hope they make some radical changes to make this a better game.

the only thing that I liked about SC was the ability to zoom out as far as I wanted to - most annoying thing in an RTS game.

Wasn't a fan of the gameplay in the beta / demo, thus ultimately never picked up the full version.

RA3 has given me hope that an RTS can be decent on PC despite having a console counterpart, so I can give GPG the benefit of the doubt on that point. But I'm still worried about other things. Square's PC track record isn't exactly stellar. Will they use Impulse for multiplayer (ALA Demigod) or continue to use GPGNet? Will they be able to avoid the temptation to focus on small unit tactics like DoW2 and CoH and focus on large-scale gameplay like the original SupCom?
