I WANT THIS NOW! NS2 will rock without a doubt!

It feels like ever since Halo 3 did its "beta test" betas have been less of a way to get feedback from the audience and more of a marketing tool.

My tax return finally has a purpose, buy a new laptop for school that can run this game

I've never played NS, but I've heard a lot about it.

From the descriptions it sounds a bit overly complicated, for example from what I understand you have an RTS type "overlord" for your own team, does it completely ruin the game if the person in charge is an idiot? Is there something else to fall back on?

It looks great though, can't wait to play this.

Apparently, they are just a team of 4 people developing this game. Thats really damn awesome.

clearly combat is designed for people with skill
classic is mostly for teamwork and commander's work
in classic, a noob commander ruins the game for the marine time
on the other hand, if a noob gorge dropped dc or sc at first hive they are likely to lose
if you play combat enough then classic is easy (f the commander isn't crappy)

Played the hell out of NS1 and heavily enjoyed it. It's a shame after they released NS Combat that most servers ran it and the NS Classic mode went to shit (lack of good servers/players, etc). I'm reserving judgment until I see this up on steam with a free weekend play.

I also hope they fixed the lame Onos rush where you have the most pathetically skilled player horde up his own resources, evolve to Onos, get killed, then leave the server. Out one player, down on resources, and pretty much no way to come back once the marines had armor upgrades and shotguns (or heaven forbid some jetpacks and heavy MGs).

For that matter, I hope they gave marines their own sub-resource system. Nothing more annoying than a commander who drops items (heavy armor, etc) on some dumbass who goes off to Rambo an Onos (oh look, you got devoured...idiot) all while you're jumping around begging for a shotgun.

creature in the trailer looks like some sort of lame rhino monster alien. wouldnt want to face that thing in a tight corridor however.

I ran a server for NS1 called Traded Addictions for a long time, I loved that damn game. Right up until the "NS combat" ruined the experience and point of the game.

Hope they don't repeat that mistake, I'd love to have an updated version of the original NS to play again. I might even go back to hosting a server for it.

I keep forgetting about this game... only does it come to mind every two months or so when I am gearing up for a PC LAN party and going over game lists I remember... "Oh yeah this is supposed to come out on Source at some point...."

Really hoping this turns out well. NS was always a mixed bag for me, hopefully they've made some good design changes to deal with the issues. Great potential, just needs a more consistent experience.

It's taken quite a while to get to this stage, can't wait for it to be released.

The first FPS/RTS hybrid and still the deepest.

This mod's easily better than the top commercial games. Years of improvements ain't no slouch.

Any idea if pre-ordering either edition of the game will eventually allow you to use the key to register the game on Steam?
