by Chris Faylor, May 23, 2009 8:04am PDTNormally, I have no set plans for the weekend, but with Memorial Day providing a longer-than-usual one for those of us in the United States, I decided to get a bit ambitious.
Because of that leaked Project Trico footage, I've got the urge to play through Shadow of the Colossus again. I'm not just going to try to beat the entire game on hard over the weekend, I'm going to actually do it. It's important to have and achieve goals, right?
And between bouts of slaying colossal beasts, perhaps I'll hop into a few matches of Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. But, for now, I've got to put all that aside, because I have a boat to be on, meaning that you've got a good idea of what I'll be saying all day.

Empire2 -- a sister alliance of Empire, the #2 group on our server -- declared war on Shaqnews earlier this morning. It wasn't much of a surprise, though: they've been attacking us for a while and has already experienced several overwhelming defeats. I'll check and see if we should also formally declare war on Empire as well. But for now, and as always, any red flags on the map are fair game.
In other news, I've updated my list of Shackers and will be updating the intel report today. There's several days of data that I need to add, but keep an eye out for an updated PDF later this afternoon.

I saw that the Blackberry Bold lets me configure a new "Outlook Web Access" email account and asks me for the server address, my user and pass.
Does that mean the Blackberry has its own client for OWA ? If yes, how good is it?
Because honestly, opening OWA on the Blackberry internet browser is a joke.

Had a post up two weeks ago about technology and industries someone can swtich to which would allow for the fastest movement towards making six-figures a year. In my particular case. I have a computer science undergraduate, a masters in game programming, and three years of work experience using C++ and would like to make atleast a $100K/year sometime in the next three to five years.
The recommended areas to look into by shackers were:
Ruby on Rails, Cloud Hosting,Embedded Programming, Tools and Database work, Web app developer.
I'd like to get some refreshed opinions on this. What area and technologies do you recommend for that six-figure salary within the first seven years of experience?

This only happens on the shack, and only in Chrome (I'm also using Win7 btw.)
So, I load up the latestchatty, and it loads http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=58766 like normal. About 3 seconds after that loads, it automatically reloads to http://websense.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=58766 . All of my extensions are fucked up because of the reload... and having it reload twice every time I refresh is annoying as hell.
Once it has refreshed, even if I mouseover the Chat Thread button, it has the http://websense.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=58766 URL instead of http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=58766 .

WURM Online is an MMO of sorts; it's Java based, and not the prettiest thing around, but it's actually pretty close to UO in the sense of there's this huge world and you can pretty much do anything.
I'll borrow from the old SA recruitment thread:
Just about anyone will tell you that the MMO industry these days is an endless sea of mediocrity and Everquest clones and cookie-cutter Korean MMORPGs. Wurm Online is a small indie MMORPG that breaks the rules and tries to do something different. Nearly everything in the game is made by the players. Teamwork and community are essential. You can plan and build your own structures, and you can alter the landscape itself through digging, mining, and forestry. Full PvP and looting is allowed between members of different kingdoms, and death penalties are significant and meaningful. It's a lot like the ugly bastard child of Dwarf Fortress and Unreal World, but online and with PvP similar to Eve Online.
* Nearly everything in the game is player made. Everything from tools to weapons to roads to villages.
* Extensive terraforming system lets you dig, raise, or mine any tile in the game. Forests can be planted, chopped down or converted to desert.
* Skill-based system eliminates class restrictions and gives full control of character growth to the players.
* Nearly unrestricted PvP rules let you kill players from enemy kingdoms, loot everything from their corpses, and raid their villages until you force them to disband and settle elsewhere.
* Two huge server maps with lots of wilderness to explore and settle, with a third server due this summer. Dynamic LOD lets you see from one end of the server to the other.
* Teamwork is essential for getting things done. Five players working together will beat fifteen working on their own.
One of the cool things the Goons did was terraform their way up a mountain and built a city. They had great defenses because there was really only one channel in. You start out on the newbie server; it lets you get a hang of the game, you get to play for free, but you're fairly limited. It's 5 Euros a month to play on the Normal servers. I was thinking of giving it a go again; it's an awesome game, but it takes a lot of people to get somewhere. Maybe a few of us would want to give it a go and start on the Free server; learn the ropes more, then take off to one of the paids?

I can probably pick out a cool one that doesn't cost too much for her but the method of backup, I'm a little stumped on.
Windows backup apparently does full backups she says. I went through and didn't see an incremental option. She just needs it to add new pics to a folder on there
I don't want to manage it, Jen will be. She's good at figuring shit out on the computer as long as it doesn't get technical and she's the one thats going to set this up. So with that in mind, can anyone suggest anything that's simple to use?
