          As someone whose car was broken into 2 or 3 times, yes you should be defensive and take out easy-to-move expensive items like the ones he mentioned. I know you *shouldn't* have to but in that vein I shouldn't have to lock the doors to my house/car ever.
          
          This is not to say I am blaming the victim though, shit happens, and it really sucks that his shit got stolen and it's not his fault that some asshole broke into his car. I'm just saying you have to be careful with what you leave in your car.
