Been much to long since we've heard about this game (I believe it was this morning :P). Gwog from over at Planet Daikatana let us know about a Daikatana update on Gone Gold. Well guess what, it still ain't done (the shock!).

Right now they're going over the game, fixing little things here and there and basically polishing the game. The US version is not gold, contrary to some reports, but close to it. They are sticking to the plan of getting all localized versions done and having an almost simultaneous release. And when would that be? They hope to have it out just before E3 (May 11-13th)
Something tells me if they still aren't done, need to get all localized versions done for a simultaneous release, I don't see it appearing before E3. But hey, we can hope! For what, I dunno.

  • okay i just got finished watching the co-op video clip.

    sweet tapdancing christ!

what a dumb game. the AI on those spiders looks horrid. okay, okay, you're right, they're a low-level monster and therefore pretty dumb overall. but still. think back to the headcrab in half life. that was the lowest monster in the game(aside from those wormy things in the water) and they still had some decent AI! Okay, it was basically, stand somewhere, scurry towards player, leap on player's face...but still, it rocked. the spiders in this daik video pretty much use the "walk-through-door-get-hit-die" AI algorithm. good job johnny boy!

this looks to be nothing more than another-lame-ass-single-player-game-with-nothing-new.

    prove me wrong romero.

  • That demo blew my mind. How long did we have to wait for it? And then when we finally got it, it was Mplayer only! I bet they had 1000's of new accounts being created all of the sudden. Did anyone go to the DK messageboard and see the vocal FPS community raising hell about how crappy the pings to their servers were?

Picture in your mind 10, P2-450's with a lot of ram. All connected to a T1 or a T3. Now picture 50 or 60 or even 100 Daikatana servers running on them. Not a pretty picture.

And then to top it off. This is what really blew my mind. Remember the little snafu about the demo not rotating to the second map? Who here even got to play the second map online?

And I thought they had people test the demo before it was released too?
