Zeno Clash 2 Announced
by Nick Breckon, May 19, 2009 1:48pm PDTA sequel to the unique first-person fighter Zeno Clash was today confirmed to be in development by independent Chilean developer ACE Team.
"ACE Team wants the next installment to be much larger in scope, so the new game will feature open ended gameplay with large explorable environments and RPG elements," reads a release. "The unique melee combat system that made the first game a success will also be expanded to feature even more brutal and engaging gameplay."
Zeno Clash was born out of a failed ACE Team project titled Zenozoik: Shattered Land. The project featured ambitious RPG elements, with plenty of classes, non-violent options for every encounter, and neutral NPCs that reacted to player actions.
You can read more about Zenozoik on the Zeno Clash board. Check out the trailer for the NPC-filled prototype below:

I finally managed to finish the first off today and it was a blast (had some serious problems with crashes at first). More of the same but with some exploration and RPG stuff thrown in sounds perfect!

the idea though is cool and for a first person game it's one of the few that works well and is fun. there was a game called breakdown on the original xbox that had first person hand to hand combat but it was frustrating more than fun. with that said they could have included more interesting first person animations in addition to the core combat (something breakdown did well)
