Evening Reading
by Nick Breckon, May 15, 2009 5:00pm PDTPlayed a decent amount of Killing Floor, the zombie survival mod-turned-retail game from Tripwire. It certainly still feels more like a mod than a retail game, but I sort of like it with the right group of people.
I do wish that you could build actual barricades in both this game and Left 4 Dead. I have a gaming fetish that can only be sated by piling random objects in front of a door and playing hide-and-go-shoot. This explains my intense love of Resident Evil 4.
And the nominations for Most Interesting News of May 15 go to:
- Activision, for new Guitar Hero 5 details
- Activision, for Tony Hawk features full-scale skateboard controller
- BioWare, for new Mass Effect 2 trailer
- Take-Two v. 3D Realms, for more pre-trial craziness
- Valve, for TF2 Spy update shenanigans
And the winner goes to.. Valve. A truly brilliant twist on an already entertaining marketing campaign.

GEGTIK VS ME
Serious Business.
-First Match: His Abel, My Ryu.
I blitzed him early, absolutely destroyed him first round. He learned. He came back and beat me the next 3 rounds straight to take match 1.
-Second Match: As promised, Dan VS Dan.
I win 3-1, it was a fun match, the best round occuring in round 2, where he was thrashing me badly, only to have me come back with several unanswered attacks, only to fall short.
-Third, and Deciding Match: His E. Honda, My Ryu
I wanted revenge for my poor showing in the first match, telling myself that I had simply gotten comfortable. I win the first round competively. He wins round 2 competively, and destroys me round 3. I switch my game to be more actively defensive and keep him at a distance, and I take round 4. Round 5 is an epic battle where neither of us want to give an inch. We are all over the stage, dodging, sticking a quick attack, countering, dodging the whole round. We are both almost dead, and I throw an ex fireball that knocks him out of a torpedo, and we both go in and try to crossup, we both miss and fall back to our sides again, and TIME OVER
Your winner, by a sliver, AROUNDTHEFUR1380!!
Goddamn was this a tough match. I expect to see him again in the finals, if I can keep winning.
