Evening Reading

Chris Remo pointed out a cool little Flash game today on Twitter. More interesting than the game itself, however, was developer Daniel Benmergui's business plan.

As you can see on his blog, Benmergui is funding his next title by donation, but with a twist: there are several donation levels, and each offer special bonuses. For instance, the lower level sponsors, at $27, get their name in the credits. Above that, Benmergui is offering some pretty creative incentives, including a custom version of his past games with you and a loved one as the starring characters, or--for $995--a custom ending to the games.

This is all my way of saying: who's going to pony up for a custom Shacknews game?

it's a game. you can beat it and there's a puzzle. it takes some time to figure it out but once you get going it's pretty clear what you need to do. you can click on the words and drag them to replace other words and you can also grab things in the world. try it! it's a really cool thing, sgtsanity posted it in the comments last night. it's almost an argument for games as art if I didn't hate that stupid argument.

This is definitely my favorite flash game to date. Make it more approachable, and I would start posting it on non-gaming friend's facebook pages.

I must be dead inside, or didn't get the full experience (although I finished it...I think).
