Star Wars: The Old Republic Gets 'Trooper' Class

so when you do an end game raid in this game, will it just be 15 players blasting the monster with 10 jedi up close swinging their lightsabers and occasionally shooting lightning at it? i just don't get how theyre putting the game together to be a fun mmo...

So I can play a clone trooper. I wonder if there'll actually be a death penalty.

I only have 2 questions. Can I be a bounty hunter? Can I use a lightning cannon?

Man these guys are going to need a whole freaking lot of Ranged Accuracy equipment.

Is this the first actual in-game combat footage we've seen? It actually looks better than I anticipated.

The trooper class in SWTOR is not a storm trooper or clone trooper, it is a republic trooper that uses real armor that really does help them survive.

Oh eat a dick LucasArts. My comments have all been vitriolic towards this game, but this Trooper class is going to suck me in and I know it. I cannot resist.

This game has potential. I just hope its not a WoW clone.

these the same troopers that even the ewoks could trample all over?

"nearly impenetrable armor" ??? impenetrable to what, wind? they get hit with so much as sand and they drop with bloody screams in all the movies.

While I like the look and design (and have always been a fan of MOST of the "Trooper" designs in Star Wars in General) they look a little too much like CLONE Troopers and STORM Troopers.

While I understand that they all share Similarities, if you look at the Storm Troopers etc from the Original Trilogy vs The Prequel Trilogy, though they have similarities they have their obvious progressive differences.

The "Trooper" with the Yellowish-Orange Mask, looks pretty DAMN close to the Clone Troopers from Episode III.

With this being several decades in the past, I'm hoping a lot of the gear looks a little more like stuff we'd see in Knights Of The Old Republic vs what we might see in Republic Commando.

(Unless of course the sets they've shown are the ones that look the most like the "Troopers" we're familiar with, for the purpose of promotional interest etc.)

Never got the whole armor thing. I mean, show me ONE situation in any of the movies where storm/clone trooper armor was actually effective at stopping a light saber, blaster, bowcaster, or for love of god, even arrows and rocks thrown by those lovable Ewok's. But hey, I guess it's not an MMO if you don't have plethora of equipment to always be grinding for.

Sold.
