Who Likes Gratuitous Space Battles?

12
Positech Games, a one-man operation run by Cliff 'cliffski' Harris, is surely outdoing itself (himself?) with its latest project, Gratuitous Space Battles.

The game, as Harris describes, is "for everyone who has watched big space armadas battle it out on TV and thought to themselves 'I could have done a much better job as admiral.'" However, Gratuitous Space Battles is not about commanding those armadas--rather, the "game" part is centered around the design and tactical instructions given to the ships. "Your individual ship commanders have total autonomy during the chaotic battle that unfolds," says Harris on the game's site.

"This is not a tactical game, it is a strategic one. These gratuitous space battles are not won by plucky heroes with perfect teeth, but by the geeky starship builders who know exactly what ratio of plasma-cannons to engines each ship in the fleet will need."

In lieu of a Homeworld sequel, we've been keeping an eye on this one. Thanks to mittense for pointing out the trailer.

this looks totally fracking awesome! (see what i did there?) - I like the idea of the battle being autonomous and simply dependent on my build and general orders for my fleet. I will be watching out for this one (hopefully it shows up on steam!)

While I'd also like it on steam - he's not put any of his other games on there.

Impulse is plenty fine enough for me. Actually, Impulse is my preference as opposed to Steam, lol.
