StarCraft 2 Beta Signups Open

Update: Blizzard tells IncGamers that the test will be multiplayer-only, and may only include only a portion of maps from the title.

Additionally, WWI 2008 beta keys and BlizzCon 2008 beta keys will indeed grant entry to the beta test.

Original story: Blizzard has officially opened up the StarCraft II beta opt-in, according to a new post on the World of Warcraft site. "The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you'd like a chance to participate, now's the time to let us know," reads the post.

Interested parties must simply visit their Battle.net profile page, choose to opt-in for the beta, and re-submit their current system specs by way of a small downloadable piece of software.

Blizzard's SC2 beta FAQ explains that the North American beta test will begin first.

Thanks to Zerbyte for the heads-up.

Exactly my thoughts...I wonder if I go spend ten grand on a new rig that my chances will increase?!

I doubt it. I imagine their focus would be on testing the game at whatever the current "average" PC is, plus maybe slightly higher end for gaming PCs. I can't imagine they'd care much about top of the line PCs which will run it fine regardless.

Exactly why I will be building computers of all specs and submitting numerous reports over numerous accounts. I CANT FAIL.

I wonder if my starcraft cd-key will help my chances. I had account #3307 back when battle.net kept track of those things.

            That's gotta count for something
