Vicious Reading

by Nick Breckon, May 04, 2009 6:00pm PDT

What a pain. I was about to rename ER to "Visceral Reading," but EA beat me to it. This seemed the next best option with which to reflect our hardcore gamer blood.

Come to think of it, I don't want anything to do with you guys and your blood--and especially not your filthy DNA.

Some of today's savage news:

Lastly, another reminder that Shacknews exists on Twitter. Feel free to follow me, too. And Faylor. And definitely Alice. She feeds on your attention, that girl. Though she is, for the record, a truly terrifyingly bad StarCraft opponent.

  • hey guys I am reading papers about neural networks and image processing and came across this little gem

    "Malsburg's results indicate that cortical
organization is not genetically predetermined. These results are also commensurate with the
findings of dramatic experiments such as those conducted by Hirsh & Spinelli (1970), who
raised kittens wearing goggles so that they could only see horizontal line segments in one eye
and vertical line segments with the other. A rewiring of the visual cortex took place so that
cells connected to the first eye only developed horizontal receptive fields, cells connected to the
second only had vertical orientation, and the number of binocular cells that responded to both
    eyes decreased dramatically."
