Mass Effect iPhone Game Confirmed by BioWare

Mass Effect: Jacob's Story, an iPhone game that tells the backstory of a character from the upcoming RPG Mass Effect 2, was confirmed today by BioWare.

"We were going to announce this, but one of the testers at a focus testing group broke the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and things were revealed before we had the chance," said BioWare community manager Chris Priestly on the company's forums.

According to the leaked survey, Jacbo is a "biotic-powered super-soldier who stumbles across a plot to terrorize civilization's greatest beacon of hope." The game will present two hours of animated, story-driven content in a cartoony art style. Top-down shooting will be involved.

Few other details are available, outside of the title's expected price of $2.99, and the knowledge that BioWare itself is not handling development. Priestly noted that more information on the title will be released later this month.

I loved Mass Effect so much that I'm actually interested in this just to have more story in that universe. However, I don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch. :-(
