The Story Behind the Brutal Legend

8
In a world where demonic nuns roam the heavy metal fantasy landscape and the youth bang their heads aimlessly, only one roadie can save them all. This is Brutal Legend.

Coming from Psychonauts developer Double Fine and published by EA, Brutal Legend arrives October--Rocktober, if you will--13 (NA) / 16 (EU) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This game looks pretty awesome. I just have the bad feeling that it will be ignored like Psychonaughts.

I think this will be far more of a commercial success than Psychonauts, if only because of the subject matter and Jack Black. But also you have to factor in BL is being published by EA, so you KNOW there will be a deluge of advertising surrounding its launch.

Psychonauts had a talented but relatively unknown (to the unwashed masses) voice actor Richard Horvitz. Plus its subject matter, psychic powers and really eclectic art style gave it far less "mainstream" appeal. And having Majesco as its publisher probably didn't help things much either.

Yep, pretty much everything except its awesomeness counted against Psychonauts. :(

At least unlike alot of other company which pubilish a commercial flop, Doubel Fine's got another shot and a bigger publisher behind them this time around. They could've gone out of business and that would've really sucked.

Yeah, most other developers would not have been able to weather the storm. But Double Fine has one thing no other developer has:

I have a feeling this game will have more universal appeal based on marketing than Psychonauts would have.
