Killing Floor Trailer Delivers Screaming Monsters, Steam Knocks 25% Off Pre-orders

Killing Floor--an enhanced standalone PC release of Shatterline's Unreal Tournament 2004 PC mod handled by Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 developer Tripwire Interactive--will hit Steam on May 14, store operator Valve revealed today.

Those that pre-order the six-player cooperative zombie shooter will receive 25% off the full asking price, making it $14.99 for those in the US. A scream-filled trailer was also released, examining the various monsters, weapons, and features of the game.

I feel sorry for these guys. The original mod predates Left 4 Dead, but releasing commercially in its wake doesn't make a lot of sense. It was genuinely very good and overlooked back in its day, but it doesn't really do anything Valve didn't do better, unless you absolutely have to have the over-the-top Painkilleresque monsters and arsenal.

soooo.....who has played this when it was a mod? i love L4D for its co-op and zombies, so this, of course, caught my eye.

also from the Steam Forums a Yoshiro from Tripwire Interactive said they might do a free weekend demo.

Wow, looks awesome!! Reminds me a lot of Painkiller. I really dug the parts from :35 to :43 with the sceaming monsters, especially the woman. The sound of those things scuttling across the floor was great too.
