Tekken 6, New Soul Calibur Coming to PSP

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 won't be the only platforms receiving Tekken 6, as publisher Namco Bandai has announced that the upcoming fighter is headed to PSP, along with a PSP-exclusive entry in the Soul Calibur fighting series.

The PSP rendition of Tekken 6 is due out this fall alongside the other versions, IGN reports, packing additional stages and content. As with the first Tekken release on PSP, Dark Resurrection, the game supports local wireless, but not online, multiplayer.

The online "ghost" download functionality of Tekken Dark Resurrection also returns, once again allowing battles against the character data of other players.

As for summer-due Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, GameSpot writes that it isn't a port, as "the Project Soul team has built this version specifically to target beginners and novice players with SCIV's content but has added improvements."

While Broken Destiny won't include all the content of Soul Calibur IV--Star Wars characters Darth Vader, Yoda and the Secret Apprentice are out--it will pack over 20 fighters, including classic characters and at least one new fighter, Dampierre.

Soul Calibur PSP is also said to offer more character customization than Soul Calibur IV, with a new mission-based single-player mode designed to help beginners and newcomers learn the intricacies of the franchise's weapon-based combat.
